About the event
"Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply." — Stephen R. Covey
What skills and awareness to we need to listen deeply to others and ourselves? Simon Keyes leads a day of practical exercises and conversations to explore some of the psychology of listening. We’ll consider the tangible ways in which we can be helpful presence to others and deepen our awareness of the mystery of the Divine Presence through reflecting on and practising our listening abilities.
MHC retreat days may include a presentation and dialogue, an opportunity for contemplative practice, some practical outdoor work (if you are up for it, and the weather permits!) and a shared lunch. There will be opportunities to speak to community members and hear more about our hopes and plans.
