Mary's House Community

MHC is a community for the spiritually curious; a gathering of seekers exploring together what Christian wisdom can teach us about how to live more fully in an uncertain world. Grounded in the life and teachings of Jesus, we hope to establish a community of transformation and action.

Community life flows through three streams: 

• Contemplation: stillness, prayer, and deep connection with the Divine.

• Dialogue: listening, learning from each other, and growing together.

• Connection to the Land: seeking a deeper relationship to the natural world, living in harmony with creation, treading lightly.

We hope that Mary’s House can be a home for explorers on the edges, a place of welcome for those who have felt marginalised by the established church, yet also a space where those comfortable in the church can deepen their journey.  In the spiritually articulate context of Frome, a town known for its independence and free-thinking, we are creating a new space where people can explore these themes - through gatherings, shared meals, quiet retreat, and practical action. Our residential element will offer a place of hospitality and rooted presence, but the community extends far beyond its walls. The land around the house will be a place of encounter with nature and growth. Practically, we will take on stewardship of the Prayer Shed and nearby Giant’s Garden.
